I love Venice. It’s beautiful, touristy and like no where else on Earth. I’m under no illusions that by spending a weekend there I will experience the “real” Italy. It receives millions of tourists each year, and tends to feel more like a recreation than an actual city. I still think of Venice as “Disneyland for Adults,” but you just have to take the city for what it is and enjoy it. This week for Travel Memories Monday, I wanted to share my favorite pictures of this floating city.
A colonnade walkway
One of the many small piers
Getting away from the canals
Gondolas!
The view from my hotel room
On the Grand Canal
Another beautiful canal
A traghetto
Cruising the Grand Canal
Fine.

I think the “A traghetto” picture is my favorite for some reason. Love the textures.

I really loved the look of all the buildings there – even the old, decrepit ones were amazing.

Gorgeous photos! Venice is such a great place. I can never stop myself from going into every single mask shop though. Even if I have already been in the same one before!

Thanks Verity! I actually didn’t go in a mask shop the whole time I was there…haha…I’ll definitely have to next time.

Love all the canal photos! I’m a sucker for scenic canals. But I think my favorite is that photo of all the gondolas lined up! So pretty.

Wow, I’ve seen some pics of Venice, but through your pics up here, I feel “closer” to it now, because you show many different faces of it. So pretty! Great pictures, Ashley!!

Love your pictures Ashley. My favorite ones are “Gondolas!” and “Getting away from the canals”… somehow I have a strange love with alleys… lol
Looking forward to go to Venice!

Thank you! The alleys there are just as beautiful as the canals – are you going to Venice soon?

I’m sure Venice is really beautiful in many places.
I don’t think I’m going for the next 18 months… but I would love to stop there on my RTW (which I’m going to start planning soon)

I love Venice! One of my dreams was to spend my honeymoon in Venice and my dream came true. We only spent 1 day there, but it was marvelous

Love the one titled Gondolas. The shadows make the water seem more real somehow.

That seems to be the most popular picture of the bunch – they’re such an icon of Venice.
